Looking at the forecast, it seemed we had an open weather window in the morning to make it to Drummond Island Yacht Haven. The marina is on the north side of Drummond Island, Michigan and safe from the southerly winds. Thunderstorms were making their way from the southwest, including from our intended destination today - Mackinac Island. Our weather apps and internet weather told us that northern Lake Huron would have 3-4 foot seas and that just to the west of Mackinaw Straights waves of 7-8 feet.

The open water between Meldrum Bay and Drummond Island were roughly 1-2 feet and we made the 40 or so miles in about two hours. Drummond Island is a common re-entry point into the US - but we were determined to use technology and tried the ROAM app on the iPad, which worked surprisingly well. You have to register your passports and the boat before you leave the US, and once you return, you use the app to indicate that you are in US waters and then you get a video call, show your passports, answer a few questions and you're back!

We docked in the family-owned Drummond Island Yacht Haven in time to avoid a few afternoon showers.
