The water was calm and flat - so we decided to make the 50+ mile trek down to Grand Haven. Passing Little Point Sable, White Lake/Whitehall and Muskegon...

and then we arrived in Grand Haven.

It was like arriving at a party - hundreds of water vessels streaming in and out of the inlet. Was there a flotilla, a festival or something we missed? The beach to the south of the inlet was literally covered with bathers and boats by the dozens were anchored offshore with swimmers diving into the water. The jetties were teeming with families and kids strolling the length all the way up to the Grand River to town waterfront where the municipal marina was located and where we tied up.

No mysterious festival today - just thousands of folks enjoying what they all guessed was one of the last great days of summer and they came out in force.

We took a stroll through the tidy downtown of Grand Haven which was very quiet compared to the shore and the water.

And then went back to Salty to have a quiet evening at the dock.
