The rain let up overnight and the sun came out on this Sunday morning, as we cast off for Parry Sound. The course from Fryingpan Island to Parry Sound led us through the Devil's Elbow (not so sinister) and a long narrow channel to the south of Five-Mile Bay up to the swing bridge which is the gateway to Parry Sound Harbor. A short trip of only 14 miles taking only two hours left us at the docks of the Big Sound Marina, just blocks away from the downtown of Parry Sound.

Parry Sound is the hometown of Bobby Orr - of Boston Bruins Stanley Cup fame. This famous son of Parry Sound has a community center ice rink and Hall of Fame named after him.

His popularity and his skills as a Bruin inspired a number of local businesses to incorporate Boston or "Four" into their names - Boston Pizza, Boston Chinese Restaurant, 4 Sports (sporting goods) and the "Brunswick" Sports Bar (likely not allowed to use Bruins name). A walk up from the town to one of the only remaining fire lookout stations was rewarded with a spectacular view of the Parry Sound Harbor.

Parry Sound has an attractive and lively main street with government offices, shops and restaurants.

A high railroad trestle bridge crosses the Seguin River - on the shore of which sits the Trestle Brewery, where we bought some "provisions".
